Formative Assessment

Interpretive Reading and Listening

  1. Read aloud sentences, paragraphs and articles with high fluency, accuracy and prosody;
  2. Identify main ideas, supporting details and text types of required articles and classmates’ essays;
  3. Skimming for text structures and main ideas;
  4. Using reading strategies to make prediction and inference about materials related to the topic in discussion.

Presentational Writing and Speaking

  1. Make suggestions for maintaining cross-cultural romantic relationships
  2. Integrate reading materials and discussion take-away to writing assignment
  3. Present summaries of the survey results

Interpersonal:

  1. Read classmates’ essays, then explain and defend opinions about cross-cultural romantic relationships with supporting evidence and with attention to organized speech or essays with a variety of genres;
  2. Interview classmates, family and friends about their viewpoints about cross-cultural romantic relationships, and incorporate these ideas effectively to the presentational task.

Summative
Assessment

  1. Presentational Writing/Speaking: Students will write and present on Tips for Maintaining Cross-cultural Romantic Relationships, and present it to the class.
  2. Interpretive Reading/Listening: Students will read and listen to classmates’ drafts/presentations, and vote for one that can be used for creating a final brochure/pamphlet.
  3. Interpersonal: Students will explain, discuss, clarify and debate why voting for one draft over another.
